Katarmal Sun Temple is the oldest sun temple of India

Katarmal Sun Temple is the oldest sun temple of India . It is located in the heart of Uttarakhand state, in the heart of Golden Temple in Almora district of Almora district. It was constructed by the then ruler of Katyari dynasty , Katarmal from 6th to 9th century. It is one of the largest temples of Kumaon and uniquely architecture of art and craft art in north India, and is situated on the mountain at an altitude of about 2116 meters above sea level.
The Katarmal Sun Temple was built by the ruler Katarmal of the Katyuri dynasty. It is built on a tall square palace, which is one of the ancient and important temples dedicated to Lord Surya in India . Even today, seeing the high fragmented peak of the temple, its magnitude and splendor is clear. The group of 45 small temples around the main temple is also unrivaled. The structure of the main temple is Triatha and is composed of a square sanctuary with square sanctum. The entrance of the sanctuary was engraved by unmatched wood art , which is present with some other residues currently present at the National Museum in New Delhi .
